| King George's Playing Fields | Ingrave Road, Brentwood. A large park, centrally located in Brentwood, offering formal gardens, children's play area, paddling pools, a unique garden for the blind, as well as playing fields for football, cricket, rugby and kick about areas, tennis courts, bowling greens and crazy golf course. The park has excellent facilities for both the disabled and able-bodied. It leads into Hartswood, a wood of 73 acres where an access trail makes it easy for people to use, including those with disabilities. There is a footpath which links up with Thorndon Country Park and Little Warley and Childerditch Common. | 
| Larkins | Ongar Road, Plenty of open space for sportsmen and women, children, parents and members of the public who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. | 
| Courages Playing Fields | Hall Lane, Shenfield. Plenty of open space for sportsmen and women, children, parents and members of the public who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. A play area was constructed at Courages in 1995 and there is a recently added wild flower meadow adjacent to the formal area of the park. | 

| Little Warley Common, and Childerditch Common | Both commons, sited to the south between Brentwood and the A127 road are in a natural state. | 
| Shenfield Common | Ingrave Road, Brentwood. A popular place for enjoyment and relaxation. It is well kept and close mown and its woods stretch to the railway line. | 
| Mill Green Common | A particularly attractive area with both woodland and open grassland together with various walkways and bridleways. | 
| Weald Country Park | Weald Road, Brentwood. Consists of nearly 500 acres and has been established for 700 years; the lakes, the tree-lined avenues and large parkland trees are the result of landscaping carried out in the 18th century. The Ranger Service at Weald Park offers many special activities both for children and adults. Car parks can be found on Weald Road and Lincolns Lane. Telephone (01277) 216297. | 
| Thorndon Country Park | Ingrave. Is divided into Thorndon Park North, with the Countryside Centre (01277 211250) and Thorndon Park South. The most important habitat is the ancient deer park area dating back to the 15th century, which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Reorganised in the late 18th century by 'Capability' Brown, parts of the park include ancient woodland plantations of both broad leaved and coniferous species, some grassland and three small lakes. Car parks can be found on The Avenue and Brentwood Road (A128). The Countryside Centre in Thorndon Park North, built from timber blown over in the 1987 storms in the two parks, has a permanent exhibition, a shop selling gifts and refreshments, and a schools' room. Fishing is available and horse riding is allowed in both parks. | 
| The Brentwood Centre | Doddinghurst Road, Brentwood. Superb facilities to international standard in the multi-purpose 12-badminton court International Hall, utilised for football, hockey, table tennis, short mat bowls, gymnastics and many other varied activities. Various aerobic, yoga and keep-fit classes take place also in the new studio. There is a hi-tech fitness training centre, health suite, beauty clinic and squash courts in addition to two swimming pools with comprehensive swimming programmes. The Brentwood Centre outdoor facilities include the Brentwood Arena which accommodates senior football, special events and exhibitions, regular sports courses and community groups; floodlit tennis/netball courts; playing fields for football, hockey, rounders, model aircraft flying, shows and fireworks display, etc. Telephone (01277) 215151. | 
| Shenfield Sports Centre | Oliver Road, Shenfield. Offers a comprehensive rang of cardio-vascular equipment and weight training facilities in the newly refurbished fitness centre and gym. Also available is a multi-purpose sports hall and aerobics/martial arts activities room. The Centre is available during evening, weekend and school holidays. Telephone (01277) 226220. | 
| Hartswood Golf Course | Ingrave Road, Brentwood. One of the leading public courses in the south-east. Its popularity stems from the attractive parkland nature with gently undulating fairways and large areas of woodland, as well as the superb condition in which it is maintained. | Hutton Country Park | Wash Road, Hutton. The area's newest country park. Open space for walking and relaxation. Limited car parking. |
