Update (07/05/01)

Just to keep you up to date...

A lot has been happening over the last few months! The Trust has been officially appointed International Affiliate to the Sads Foundation, Utah. We are also delighted that Kanu Nwankwo, Arsenal striker, has volunteered to be a patron of the Trust. We feel extremely honoured and privileged that he has given the Trust his support. Kanu 'bounced back' to health after having heart surgery. He was so pleased that he was able to recover and continue his career in football that he started his own Heart Foundation. Like us he feels that it is important to get these heart conditions diagnosed early.

We are awaiting confirmation of special charity entries for the 2002 London Marathon. We would be pleased to hear from anybody who feels they could take on this challenge and raise sponsorship for the Sads Trust.

Many thanks to Lin Gosling for offering to donate profit from the wonderful poems she has written and will publish in honour of her son Tom.

The Trust will soon have available new literature to help raise awareness about Long QT Syndrome and Sads.

Update (20/03/01)

The go-karting went well on Sunday. 50 drivers took part and there was some pretty competitive driving. Our next event is a quiz night on Saturday May 26th, tickets £5. All profits go towards heart monitoring equipment. Anyone interested should 'phone Anne or John on 01277 230642 or e-mail info@sadsuk.org

The charity fundraises for heart monitoring equipment and donates to local surgeries. The charity also provides a support and information service for bereaved families.

CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTER

The Quiz Night held at Keys Hall on the 25th November raised an amazing £1,083. We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support they have given the Trust. We also thank everybody who donated raffle prizes including Calcott Hall Farm for the wonderful basket of fruit they provided.

Future Fundraisers

A Formula 2 Grand Prix Go-Kart Racing Event has been arranged for Sunday 18th March 2001. The cost per driver is £33. There is a limit to the amount of drivers who can race in this event, so would you please contact us to let us know if you would like to race. A deposit of £10 per driver will be required at the end of January.

Independent Business Owners who have an agreement with the Amway Corporation to supply consumable products have approached The Trust with a shopping opportunity that raises money for the Trust when people buy Amway products. Their products are good value and further details are enclosed.

Help

We keep detailed accounts but we would appreciate help from someone with accounting experience to present these as required by the Charities Commission at the end of the financial year.

Great News

Cash for Causes considered The Trust’s application for a grant to purchase a 24 hour pocket size heart monitor and they awarded £2,300 towards the total amount of £3,200 needed to purchase this monitor and ancillary equipment.
